THE five most active exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in May averaged a total year-to-date return of 11.5 per cent, taking their one- and three-year total returns to 19.5 per cent and 20.6 per cent, respectively.
The five - iShares MSCI India Index ETF, SPDR® Gold Shares ETF, SPDR® Straits Times Index ETF, db x-trackers MSCI Indonesia Index UCITS ETF and db x-trackers MSCI China Index UCITS ETF (DR) - saw a 43.6 per cent year-on-year rise in turnover for the month, rising from S$115 million in May 2016 to S$165 million this year.
