Acra, Ipos seek views on new framework for disclosing non-physical company assets
SINGAPORE’S Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra) and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (Ipos) are seeking views from the public for a new framework that helps companies disclose and communicate their intangible, or non-physical, assets.
These include technologies, brand recognition, data, trade secrets and intellectual property such as patents, copyrights and trademarks, they said on Wednesday (Dec 14).
“The framework will help businesses communicate the value of their intangibles and maximise their economic potential,” Acra and Ipos said. It will also boost information transparency and facilitate the asset’s commercialisation, which includes increasing access to financing.
The framework will look at how the intangible asset contributes to the company’s overall corporate strategy, its categorisation, the performance metrics used, and how a company manages risks and opportunities.
The public consultation will run from Dec 14, 2022 to Feb 28, 2023.
