THE clustering of annual general meetings (AGMs) around late-April has led to a problem here - at least for this season. Some companies were unable to get hold of the electronic polling devices that were needed for an efficient system of poll voting to be carried out, BT has learnt.

At least two companies have had to conduct their poll manually, through the issue of slips of paper at the door. This follows a rule change that came into effect in August 2015, which stipulates that resolutions at AGMs must be voted by poll, rather than by show of hands.
