IF Tony Fernandes, co-founder of Asia's top budget carrier AirAsia, had his way, he would have pulled off a buyout of his flagship firm listed on the Malaysian stock exchange six years ago.
For one, taking AirAsia Berhad private then would have been cheaper; at an indicative price of RM1.35 then, it would have cost him RM1.25 billion to take the airline private.
