THE Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) yesterday granted Scoot and Tigerair antitrust immunity (ATI), which paves the way for the two airlines to coordinate their schedules and pricings on parallel routes, thus allowing the airlines to spread out overlaps and offer their customers more choices in flight timings.

The competition watchdog said it believes the two airlines "operate largely complementary networks of flights". Although they are both budget carriers, Tigerair's niche lies in short-haul flights, while Scoot focuses on medium-haul flights.
