[SINGAPORE] Law firm Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow has appointed veteran funds lawyer Kelvin Poa as country managing principal, effective Jan 1.

He succeeds James Huang, who had led the Singapore member firm of Baker McKenzie since January 2023.

A lawyer with more than 27 years of experience, Poa heads the firm’s funds and employment practice groups. He advises venture capital, private equity and real estate clients on structuring investments, acquisitions, restructurings and exits, and also supports asset management clients on transformational transactions and complex reorganisations.

In the employment space, he provides strategic advice on non-contentious matters including contracts, separation agreements and restrictive covenants.

“I look forward to working closely with our global and regional teams to deliver seamless client outcomes in today’s dynamic market,” he said.

Huang said Poa’s expertise would position the firm well alongside Singapore’s growth as a regional gateway for international investments and talent development.

Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow is a joint law venture between international firm Baker McKenzie and Wong & Leow LLC, a Singapore law practice. The firm has more than 40 years of experience in the Singapore market, advising on domestic and cross-border matters.
