[TOKYO] The Bank of Japan (BOJ) bought 70.1 billion yen (S$770 million) of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on Thursday (Apr 7), stepping into the market for the fifth time this year.
The country's benchmark Nikkei stock index had earlier fallen sharply for a second day, closing at the lowest level in almost a month, amid escalating concerns about a faster pace of US Federal Reserve policy tightening, as well as uncertainty around the conflict in Ukraine and Covid-19 lockdowns in China.
