BANK of Singapore (BOS) is appointing industry veteran Robert Reid as its new global head of alternative investments and managed solutions, with effect from May 30.
Based in Hong Kong, Reid will oversee the expansion of the bank’s alternative investments and managed solutions offerings, and lead the growth of partners in this space to cater to different client preferences, BOS said on Thursday (May 26).
The bank noted a heightened interest in alternative investments in recent years, including private markets, real estate, hedge funds and direct investments, particularly among family offices and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. In 2021, it saw a 60 per cent increase in flows towards alternative investments.
Reid was most recently country head of Hong Kong and Taiwan at BlackRock and has 30 years of legal, consulting and financial services experience in the Asia-Pacific region. He has also held senior leadership roles in global asset management and sell-side firms.
Reid will report to BOS’s global head of products Lim Leong Guan, and have a local reporting line to Teresa Lee, head of Greater China, Hong Kong branch.
Lim said: “Robert’s appointment underscores our commitment and ambition to increase alternative investments and managed solutions as a core holding in our clients’ portfolios and to deliver unique and differentiated solutions for the benefit of our clients.”
