Beware exclusions on travel insurance to Hong Kong
Insurers cite MFA advisory on deferring "non-essential travel" as basis for restrictions or exclusions on a travel policy

IF YOU are planning a holiday or a trip to Hong Kong in the next few weeks, be forewarned that some travel insurance benefits will not apply as long as there is a travel advisory from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
The MFA currently has an advisory, issued in October, telling Singaporeans to defer "non-essential'' travel to Hong Kong. This is due to the "large scale protests'' which have become increasingly unpredictable. "These protests can take place with little or no notice and could turn violent,'' it said.
