[HONG KONG] China is seeking more development in the green finance sector as the world's second largest economy tries to tackle pressing environmental issues to improve its patchy track record.
The People's Bank of China, the country's central bank and other key government departments including financial regulators, finance ministry and the state planning commission issued a joint statement on green finance.
Some of the measures listed in the statement include providing more green funds, encouraging capital markets to support environment-related investments, and developing insurance in the green sector.
Chinese officials have said they would make "green finance" a top priority for the country.
