GERMANY-HEADQUARTERED Deutsche Bank announced on Thursday (Sep 15) the appointment of Ruchir Sharma as its new co-head of global foreign exchange (FX) for Asia-Pacific (Apac), with effect from Thursday.
Sharma, who was previously Credit Suisse’s head of Apac FX trading for over 12 years, will now be based in Singapore. This will not be his first time in the city-state, having held roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank in both Hong Kong and Singapore.
His appointment follows a slew of changes at the German investment bank, including the appointment of Darren Boulos in Sydney as co-head of global FX for Apac. His predecessor, Lee Merchant, former head of global FX Apac, has relocated to London as Deutsche Bank’s global head of spot trading.
Sharma will work alongside Boulos in driving the strategic direction of Deutsche Bank’s award-winning FX business, said the bank in a press statement.
“Together with Darren, he will be instrumental in providing high-quality service to our clients and ensuring the continued success of Deutsche Bank’s FX platform,” said Russell LaScala, Deutsche Bank’s global head of FX.
