THE year 2017 is certain to be a complex and challenging one. But this does not necessarily mean that it will be a bad year for investors.
As historians are well aware, it is often difficult to get a meaningful perspective on recent events. We will not be able to fully understand the full causes and implications of the dramatic events of 2016 for many years. The election of President Donald Trump and Brexit should, in particular, continue to challenge the economic and political status quo.
Even as President Trump's withdrawal from the TPP is a combative announcement, we continue to think that Mr Trump should pursue his combative trade reset but not in an extreme manner. As we are still in early days, we continue to watch for further moves from the Trump administration. Nothing should be taken for granted.
