Indonesia’s central bank conducts intervention to support rupiah
INDONESIA’S central bank has intervened in the foreign exchange market to maintain confidence in the rupiah, which fell to a four-month low against the dollar earlier on Friday.
Bank Indonesia’s head of monetary department Edi Susianto told Reuters that the rupiah’s fall was mainly due a resilient US economy and growing geopolitical tensions between China and Taiwan.
The rupiah fell as much as 0.44 per cent to 15,990 a dollar in morning trade. REUTERS
