MUFG Bank has appointed Angus St John as its Asia-Pacific head of financial sponsor coverage – a newly-created role based in Sydney, Australia – which takes effect immediately.
He will be in charge of building the bank’s regional sponsor coverage franchise, which focuses on clients such as private equity firms and sovereign funds, as well as asset management entities and other investor groups.
St John will report to Drew Riethmuller, MUFG’s head of global corporate and investment banking for Oceania and co-head of its Sydney branch, the bank said in a press statement on Tuesday (Oct 4).
Before MUFG, St John was Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s managing director for investor client management. He was also executive director and head of South-east Asia for JPMorgan Investor Services.
