Senior Fed official says it will take until autumn to see tariffs’ inflation effect
DALLAS Federal Reserve Bank President Lorie Logan said on Tuesday (Jul 15) that she expects it will take until the fall to understand the effect of tariffs on inflation.
This is in part because companies are waiting until they know what the level of tariffs will be before they pass the extra costs onto consumers.
“We will be looking at the data over the course of the summer and into the fall before we really have a good read on how they’re affecting prices overall,” said Logan at the World Affairs Council of San Antonio in Texas. REUTERS
