    HE is coy about his retirement age. But Ronald Ong, Morgan Stanley's chairman and chief executive for South-east Asia, will say he has begun looking for a local successor within the firm.

    And as worries over the heft of Singaporean talent in banking whirl in the minds of government officials and Singaporean bankers, Mr Ong concedes that there is a gap "in the middle" in the investment banking industry. But the banking veteran is hopeful that any gaps in the overall talent mix will be corrected in the next decade, with the next wave of Singaporean leaders coming up with the right amount of training served up.
