THE Straits Times Index (STI) on Monday lost its grip on the psychologically important support of 2,800 when it dropped 40.72 points or 1.44 per cent to 2,791.92, its lowest since end-June 2012.
It was the index's fourth consecutive fall and takes its loss for the year to 17 per cent; from its 2015 closing high of 3,539 on April 15, the index has now fallen 747 points or 21 per cent in just over five months.
