Tighter control of cryptocurrencies needed: BIS
It urges central banks to ensure that these do not become parasites that feed on the wider financial system

THE Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has issued a stark warning to central bankers who are behind the cryptocurrency curve.
As bitcoin and altcoins plunged from their January bubble heights, Agustín Carstens, BIS general manager, warned that the authorities "must be prepared to act against the invasive spread of cryptocurrencies to protect consumers and investors".
