Bargain hunters finding value in China's A-shares

Regional lenders and tech stocks also attractive, fund managers say

    VOLATILE, pandemic-hit markets present buying opportunities for investors with the stomach for some risk. Fund managers say they are finding bargains in the Chinese A-share market as well as among regional banks, tech stocks and consumer plays. The local market, too, holds some bargains, although some stocks have become expensive.

    The MSCI AC Asia ex-Japan index has yielded negative returns of 14.5 per cent in the year to May 5, assuming dividends were reinvested. China has performed best on news that it has been able to get the novel coronavirus under control, while Indonesia and India have been the hardest hit.
