THE BreadTalk Group will open the first Din Tai Fung restaurant in London at Covent Garden by the end of this year.
In November 2016, the group had announced that - through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiary Taster Food UK (TFUK) - it had entered into a franchise agreement to operate the Din Tai Fung brand of restaurants in the United Kingdom.
On Friday, its wholly-owned subsidiary Together Inc (50.5 per cent) had entered into a joint venture with Din Tai Fung Restaurant Co (15 per cent), Fairy Rise Development (15 per cent), Stour Crema (7.5 per cent), UK partner Tristan Hoare (7.5 per cent) and Taiwanese partner Song Yih (4.5 per cent).
The first Din Tai Fung restaurant will open at Covent Garden in the West End by year-end, with a second restaurant at Centre Point in the pipeline.
George Quek, chairman of BreadTalk, said: "Leveraging on the strengths of our partners in Taiwan and the UK, we hope to deliver the best customer experience to our fans in London."
The BreadTalk Group currently operates 22 Din Tai Fung restaurants in Singapore and five restaurants in Thailand.
