Buying among directors, companies soars, selling remains low

THE buying among directors surged in the past week, while the selling stayed low for the sixth straight week. Filings on the Singapore Exchange in the second week of December showed a total of 26 companies made 50 purchases worth S$6.5 million, against four firms with six disposals worth S$1 million.
The buy figures rose sharply from the previous week's 15 companies, 27 purchases and S$3.95 million. On the selling side, the number of firms and trades were consistent with the previous week's three companies and three disposals. The sell value, however, plunged from the previous week's disposals worth S$4.1 million.
On the buybacks side, the repurchase activity remained high with 24 companies that posted 77 repurchases worth S$91 million. The number of companies was sharply up from the previous week's 18 firms, while the number of trades and value were not far off from the previous week's 84 trades worth S$87.6 million.
