Buying by directors loses steam

THE buying by directors plunged after rising for two straight weeks based on filings on the Singapore Exchange from Oct 5 to 9. A total of 19 companies recorded 35 purchases worth S$2.34 million, which were sharply down from the previous week's 30 firms, 59 purchases and S$14.76 million. The selling, on the other hand, fell with five companies that recorded 6 disposals worth S$0.364 million. The number of firms was sharply up from the previous week's one company. The number of disposals and value, however, were sharply down from the previous week's 9 transactions worth S$7.67 million.

Meanwhile, the buyback activity fell following three straight weeks of heavy activity with 20 companies that posted 81 repurchases worth S$13.3 million. The figures were sharply down from the previous week's 32 firms, 127 trades and S$148.7 million.

There were several firms that recorded multiple buyers last week.
