Buying falls, selling among directors still low
THE buying fell while the selling among directors remained low based on filings on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) in the last week of October. A total of 12 companies recorded 22 purchases worth S$2.5 million versus one firm with six disposals worth S$6.43 million. The buy figures were down from the previous week's four-day totals of 14 companies, 26 purchases and S$7.3 million.
On the selling side, the one company that recorded sales last week - International Healthway Corporation - saw a sharp jump from the previous week's zero sales. The low company count on the selling side was not surprising as an average of only 1.1 firms have recorded disposals per week since the second half of August.
Aside from directors, the buyback activity plunged last week with only seven firms posting 28 repurchases worth S$5.2 million. The figures were sharply down from the previous week's tally of 16 companies, 59 repurchases and S$11.1 million.
