    MAINLAND Chinese stocks closed slightly higher on Monday (May 9), defying a subdued sentiment across Asia's markets due to inflation fears and supply chain woes from China's Covid-19 lockdowns.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.09 per cent, or 2.58 points, to 3,004.14, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange bounced by 0.35 per cent, or 6.53 points, to 1,865.92.
