China: Stocks up in early trading

    [SHANGHAI] China and Hong Kong stocks rose on Tuesday morning, tracking gains in global markets despite weak Chinese domestic manufacturing data released a day earlier, dealers said.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.16 per cent, or 5.24 points, to 3,330.32 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.27 per cent, or 5.34 points, to 1,993.31.

    The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong was up 1.01 per cent, or 226.35 points, at 22,596.39 in early trading.
