China: Stocks fall on growth fears ahead of G-20 meeting
[HONG KONG] Chinese stocks fell on Thursday, shaking off a rise in US markets overnight as concerns over slowing growth weighed ahead of a meeting of the G-20 group of rich nations.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dropped 0.58 per cent, or 110.4 points, to 19,082.05 in opening deals, the day before the meeting is due to kick off in Shanghai.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.23 per cent, or 6.66 points, to 2,922.24.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.22 per cent, or 4.22 points, to 1,872.25.
