Europe: London stock market slips amid holiday closures
[LONDON] The British stock market pulled lower in subdued opening trade on Friday, with most of Europe shut for the May Day public holiday.
In initial deals, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index declined 0.25 per cent to 6,943.28 points.
On Thursday, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index gained 0.19 per cent to 11,454.38 points while in Paris the CAC 40 was up 0.14 per cent at 5,046.49 points. Both markets will reopen on Monday.
