EUROPEAN stock markets fell slightly at the open on Wednesday (Oct 26) as investors digested another batch of mixed earnings.
London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index lost 0.2 per cent to 7,000.75 points and the pound was steady as stability returns to UK markets with the appointment of Rishi Sunak as prime minister.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX index shed 0.2 per cent to 13,032.20 points and the Paris CAC 40 retreated 0.2 per cent to 6,240.66.
The euro was little changed a day before the European Central Bank was expected to announce a big interest rate hike to tackle sky-high inflation. AFP
