Europe: Stock markets diverge at open

[LONDON] Europe's main stock markets diverged at the start of trading on Thursday, with London rising and eurozone indices down.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index edged up almost 0.1 per cent to 7,473.73 compared with the closing level on Wednesday.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index fell around 0.2 per cent to 12,950.18 points and the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.1 per cent 5,355.91.
Madrid's IBEX index, which had fallen by nearly 3 per cent on Wednesday amid deepening worries about the Catalan independence crisis, was back in positive territory on Thursday, showing a gain of 0.8 per cent at 10,043.10 points at around 0730 GMT.
