Europe: Stock markets rebound at open

[LONDON] Europe's main stock markets rebounded at the start of trading on Thursday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index up 0.6 per cent to 6,313.77 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 advanced by 0.9 per cent to 11,061.88 points and the Paris CAC 40 won 0.8 per cent to open at 4,943.90 compared with Wednesday's close.

Heightened security fears in the wake of the Paris terror attacks and caution ahead of an update from the Federal Reserve had pushed European markets lower on Wednesday.

But they rebounded on Thursday following gains across Asian and US indices after minutes from the Fed's last policy meeting suggested a likely US interest rate increase in December based on greater confidence in the economy.
