[LONDON] European stock markets rose at the open on Tuesday (Mar 29), lifted partly by optimism over peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index gained 0.6 per cent to 7,517.81 points compared with Monday's closing level.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX index won almost 1.0 per cent to 14,555.11 points and the Paris CAC 40 climbed 1.1 per cent to 6,663.09.
Asian equities gained ground, energised also by another drop in oil prices.
Focus is now on Istanbul, where officials from Kyiv and Moscow are due to hold their first face-to-face talks since March 10, with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky saying they must bring peace "without delay". AFP
