[LONDON] European stock markets diverged at the start of trade on Tuesday, as London played catch-up following a long weekend.
In initial deals, London's benchmark FTSE 100 index rose 0.61 per cent to 7,028.44 points compared with Friday's closing level. The market was shut Monday for a public holiday.
Elsewhere, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index dipped 0.38 per cent to 11,576.12 points and the CAC 40 in Paris shed 0.15 per cent to 5,074.42 compared with Monday's close.
Frankfurt and Paris had risen Monday, boosted by a weaker euro before this week's important corporate results and economic data.
