Europe: Stocks climb at open
EUROPEAN stock markets climbed at the open on Monday (Aug 15) following gains in Tokyo, with traders' attention this week set to focus once more on the prospect of recession.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index climbed 0.4 per cent to 7,532.46 points, ahead of key UK inflation data Wednesday.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX index rose 0.4 per cent to 13,850.43 points and the Paris CAC 40 advanced 0.5 per cent to 6,583.13. AFP
