Europe: Stocks drift down in early deals

    EUROPEAN stock markets drifted lower in early deals on Wednesday (Oct 12).

    London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index was marginally lower at 6,884.16 points, as investors digested news of shrinking UK economic growth in August.

    In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX index shed 0.3 per cent to 12,177.31 points and the Paris CAC 40 also lost 0.3 per cent to 5,816.28 compared with Tuesday’s closing levels. AFP
