Europe: Stocks drop after surging

EUROPE’S main stock markets fell at the start of trading on Wednesday (Oct 5) after the previous day’s surge on hopes of less aggressive hikes to interest rates.
London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index dropped 0.5 per cent to 7,053.17 points.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX index shed 0.4 per cent to 12,624.61 points and the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.6 per cent to 6,006.55. AFP
