Europe: Stocks drop at open
EUROPEAN stock markets dropped at the open on Friday (Aug 19) with traders focusing firmly on the outlook for interest rate hikes as central banks battle to bring down sky-high inflation.
London’s benchmark FTSE 100 index shed 0.3 per cent to 7,518.99 points.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX index lost 0.6 per cent to 13,611.99 points and the Paris CAC 40 retreated 0.5 per cent to 6,526.53. AFP
