Europe: Stocks edge higher at open

EUROPEAN stock markets rose slightly at the open on Thursday (May 26) after Tokyo closed lower, as traders assess chances of a global recession in the wake of runaway inflation.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index gained 0.1 per cent to 7,527.70 points.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX index grew 0.3 per cent to 14,042.51 points and the Paris CAC 40 won 0.1 per cent to 6,305.79. AFP
