EUROPE'S stock markets wavered in opening deals on Monday (9 May), as investors paused from recent heavy losses but remained anxious over surging inflation and rising interest rates.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index was almost unchanged at 7,388.93 points, compared with Friday's closing level.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX rose 0.1 per cent to 13,692.51 points, while the Paris CAC 40 fell 0.1 per cent to 6,251.47.
Asian equities, however, sank heavily on Monday, extending last week's losses, hit also by worries over the ongoing impact of China's Covid lockdown policies.
Markets had dived Friday in a vicious global selloff as investors fretted over inflation and worries about slowing growth despite a solid US jobs report. AFP
