HK, Shanghai: Stocks open lower on Wednesday

[HONG KONG] Shares in Hong Kong opened lower Wednesday, while Shanghai also sank, following sharp losses in Europe and New York as concerns over the global economy returned to the fore.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index dipped 0.56 per cent, or 112.84 points, to 19,898.74.
And in Shanghai, the benchmark composite index tumbled 2.14 per cent, or 61.98 points, to 2,839.41, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, dropped 2.19 per cent, or 38.35 points, to 1,712.19.
