Hong Kong markets closed due to Typhoon Kompasu; Shanghai stocks end higher

[HONG KONG] The Hong Kong stock exchange was closed on Wednesday due to Typhoon Kompasu.

Mainland Chinese markets ended higher following a better-than-forecast reading on exports, while traders are keeping a close watch on the release of key inflation data later in the week.

The Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.42 per cent, or 14.83 points, to 3,561.76, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange climbed 1.29 per cent, or 30.57 points, to 2,394.39.
