Hong Kong rises as Shanghai stocks sink back
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong shares rose Wednesday as the market awaited results from flag carrier Cathay Pacific, while Shanghai sank back as financial stocks retreated following recent gains.
The Hang Seng Index finished up 0.86 per cent, or 234.11 points, at 27,409.07.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dipped 0.15 per cent, or 4.81 points, to 3,246.45, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, climbed 0.59 per cent, or 11.11 points, to 1,898.39.
