[HONG KONG] Shares sank in Hong Kong and Shanghai soon after opening on Wednesday following a negative lead from New York while energy firms were dragged by a fall in oil prices.
The Hang Seng Index fell 0.86 per cent, or 202.09 points to 23,363.02.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was marginally lower, dipping 2.10 points to 3,129.84, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, was flat, inching down 0.46 points to 2,077.29.
