Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stock open lower

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks retreated in early trade after the previous day's gains, tracking losses on Wall Street as a further fall in oil prices hit energy companies.

    The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong dipped 0.62 per cent, or 139.65 points, to 22,340.04.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slid 0.32 per cent, or 11.18 points, to 3,525.73 following three days of gains, but the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, edged up 0.10 per cent, or 2.28 points, to 2,191.59.
