Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks cap strong week with gains
[HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks ended a strong week on a high Friday, tracking healthy gains in New York ahead of the release of key US jobs figures later in the day.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index climbed 0.42 per cent, or 88.02 points, to 20,947.24 - tacking on 1.8 per cent over the past five days.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.46 per cent, or 13.45 points, to 2,938.68. The index jumped 4.17 per cent for the week.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.53 per cent, or 10.07 points, to 1,914.81. It surged 5.96 per cent since last Friday.
