Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks dip at open

[HONG KONG] Shares in Hong Kong and Shanghai opened lower on Friday in line with a regional sell-off and following recent gains as traders dismissed data pointing to a surprise rise in Chinese manufacturing activity.
The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.24 per cent, or 49.89 points, to 20,726.81.
And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index eased 0.23 per cent, or 6.83 points, to 2,997.09, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gave up 0.46 per cent, or 8.87 points, to 1,903.34.
