Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks end week with rally

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks ended a volatile week with healthy gains Friday, tracking an Asia-wide advance following the previous day's sharp losses and on hopes Britain will next week vote to remain in the European Union.

    The Hang Seng Index climbed 0.66 per cent, or 131.56 points, to 20,169.98 - but it has shed more than 4 per cent since last Friday.

    And the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.43 per cent, or 12.29 points, to 2,885.11, losing 1.44 per cent over the week.

    The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, gained 0.81 per cent, or 15.30 points, to 1,900.74, sliding 0.93 per cent for the week.
