Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks fall in opening trade

HONG KONG - Hong Kong stocks opened 0.35 percent lower Thursday following a heavy sell-off on Wall Street and in line with regional losses.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index slipped 85.72 points to 24,442.51.
In mainland China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.51 percent, or 18.79 points, to 3,641.94.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, lost 0.43 percent, or 8.29 points, to 1,935.40.
