Hong Kong, Shanghai: Stocks open higher

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks rose in the first few minutes of trade Thursday, following a positive lead from Wall Street despite fresh turmoil for President Donald Trump.

    The Hang Seng Index was up 0.50 per cent, or 136.44 points, to 27,545.51.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.37 per cent to 3,258.47 points, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.14 per cent to 1,901.10.
