Hong Kong: Shares close lower

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks returned from a long weekend to end Tuesday lower, with southbound buying by mainland Chinese investors dented by a decision to drain liquidity from local markets by the People's Bank of China.

    The Hang Seng Index fell 0.71 per cent or 203.60 points to 28,638.53.

    The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropped 0.92 per cent or 33.19 points to 3,556.56, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange eased 0.83 per cent or 20.02 points to 2,387.91.
