Hong Kong: Shares dip, Shanghai rises ahead of China data

    [HONG KONG] Hong Kong stocks dipped in the first few minutes of trade on Monday while Shanghai edged up as investors await the release of third quarter economic growth data out of China later in the day.

    The benchmark Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong eased 0.28 per cent, or 63.76 points, to 23,003.61.

    In Shanghai the composite index gained 0.30 per cent, or 10.28 points, to 3,401.63, while the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, added 0.39 per cent, or 7.72 points, to 1,974.68.
